Best Burger

Kansas City has never been a town at a loss for a great burger. But the house hamburger at the Well scores as the best new burger in town. At their new sort-of-sports bar in Waldo, saloonkeepers Andy and Chris Lewellen have created a thing of beauty: an 8-ounce patty of fresh Angus beef, grilled to order and blanketed with a nice thick slice of cheese (Cheddar, pepper Jack, Swiss or smoked Mozzarella), slathered with caramelized onion, bedecked with lettuce and tomato — all on a toasted egg bun from the bakers at Farm to Market. The burger is damn good by itself, but if you don't want the hand-cut fries as a side, there's a choice of fresh fruit, cottage cheese, celery seed slaw or an amazingly creamy and cheesy macaroni and cheese. A cheeseburger and mac and cheese may not be all that good for you, but at the Well, it's most assuredly good.
